Congratulations on deciding to move to Cologne! As your reliable partner for removals, we at Transporo want to help make your move to this wonderful city as smooth as possible. Let’s take a look at the three most popular districts and the challenges they bring for your move.
1. Altstadt-Süd
This historic district is the heart of Cologne. With its lively atmosphere, charming streets and countless pubs and restaurants, Altstadt-Süd is a popular place to live for young people and culture lovers. The challenge when moving here lies above all in the narrow lanes and limited parking. But don’t worry – at Transporo we have experienced drivers who know these streets inside out and will handle your move safely and efficiently.
2. Ehrenfeld
This district has developed into a creative hub in recent years and attracts young families and artists in particular. Ehrenfeld offers a lively cultural scene, plenty of cafés and boutiques, and the popular weekly market. The challenge when moving to Ehrenfeld is often finding a suitable parking space for the removal van. Here too we at Transporo are well prepared and will help you find a workable solution.
3. Nippes
This district in the north of Cologne wins people over with its relaxed atmosphere and charming old-town feel. Nippes is very popular with young families and students and offers good infrastructure along with plenty of shops and cafés. The challenge when moving to Nippes is often that some streets are narrow and cobbled. Here too Transporo has the know-how and the right equipment to keep your move running smoothly.
Whichever of these districts you choose, we are at your side with many years of experience and a comprehensive service. From planning and organisation through to transporting your furniture and setting it up on site – we take care of every step so you can feel at home quickly.
Look forward to your new home in Cologne and leave the move to us. We are glad to help!
Cologne is a lively metropolis that records a large number of moves every year. According to current data, Cologne is among the German cities with high relocation activity.
The cathedral city attracts people for all sorts of reasons – its rich culture, its lively carnival tradition or the wide range of work opportunities.
For moves within Cologne, certain districts are especially popular. Areas such as Ehrenfeld, Nippes and the Belgisches Viertel are in high demand. Here you will find a mix of urban flair, historic architecture and plenty of leisure and shopping options. Districts such as Deutz, Sülz and Klettenberg are also becoming increasingly popular.
Compared with other German cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Bonn, Cologne shows a similar level of relocation activity.
Another interesting factor for your move to Cologne is the importance of the Rhine. The river shapes Cologne’s cityscape and offers a wide range of leisure options along its banks. It also plays a significant role as a major transport route for goods and passengers.

One of the most common questions is surely: “How much does a move in Cologne cost?”
On average you can expect certain cost factors that apply to most moves in Cologne. Removal van: Hiring a van for a day can cost between €80 and €180, depending on size and hire period. For larger moves you may want to consider a lorry. Fuel comes on top of that.
Removal helpers: The number of helpers you need affects the cost. Per helper you can expect an average hourly rate of €20 to €40. This can vary depending on the size and timeframe of your move.
Packing materials: The cost of moving boxes, packing materials and tape comes to roughly €150 to €200 on average. Naturally this also depends on the amount and size of what you need to pack. Allow roughly one box per square metre.
Furniture assembly and dismantling: If you need help assembling and dismantling your furniture, additional costs apply. The exact price depends on the number of items and the time involved. Per fitter you can expect €25 to €50 per hour.
Insurance: It is advisable to take out moving insurance to protect your property during transport. Costs vary depending on the scope of the policy.
At Transporo we understand that every move is unique, which is why we offer tailored solutions to meet your specific requirements.
What does a removal company within Cologne cost?

Below we have set out the most important FAQs for you, so that no questions are left unanswered and you can sit back and relax on moving day.
The number of moving boxes you need varies and depends on your possessions. A rough rule of thumb is one moving box per square metre. Minimalists will probably need somewhat fewer, and collectors considerably more.
If you ask us to when booking your move, we can pack and unpack the moving boxes for you. Please contact us at least 14 days before the moving date so we can prepare a suitable quote. Details of the services can be found in your order confirmation. Transporo is happy to take this on for you!
The number of removal helpers you need depends on various factors, such as the volume of the move, the distance between your old and new home and any additional services booked.
The duration of the move depends on many aspects, such as the quantity of goods to be transported, the distance between the departure and destination addresses, whether additional services were booked, and traffic levels.
If you are unsure whether a piece of furniture is too large, too heavy or too bulky to transport in one piece, ask yourself a few questions. Does it fit through all doors, hallways and corridors? Are there tight corners and stairwells to negotiate? Is the item heavier than 80 kg? Is it very tall or very wide? If you answered “yes” to any of these, the piece will probably have to be dismantled. If you are unsure, please contact our customer service. We are happy to help.
If you would like us to dismantle and reassemble your furniture, this is available for an additional charge. Please note that we only assemble furniture that we dismantled beforehand. If you handle the dismantling and assembly yourself, please make sure all furniture is already taken apart when our partner arrives.
To give you a stress-free and cost-effective move, we plan our capacity so that you get the best possible price. If you want to transport more than ordered on moving day, that can sometimes be possible. However, additional costs will apply, which may be higher than changing the order in advance. We therefore ask you to check your order after booking and to let us know of any changes in good time.
Please fill in the service report together with our partner on moving day and sign it. The service report documents the services provided by our partner and records any pre-existing damage and any new damage. It is an important document, as it serves as evidence and ensures your protection.
On the day of your move, our customer service team is available at 040 / 334 692 16.
No-parking zones help ensure your move runs comfortably and smoothly. In some places parking is not possible at all without one. Please check the local conditions at both the departure and destination addresses. If no zone has been applied for, you must provide a parking space for our partner during the move.
The no-parking signs are usually put up about two days before your move
If you want to add a no-parking zone, we need at least 14 days’ notice. Please let us know in good time before the move if you would like one. Once booked, no-parking zones unfortunately cannot be cancelled.
Yes, the moving date can be changed after the contract is concluded, provided the new date is at least 14 days after the date of the change. If the moving day is less than 14 days away, it can unfortunately no longer be changed.
A cancellation fee of 20% of the agreed fee applies if you cancel at least 14 days before the agreed moving date. If you cancel later than 14 days but at least 8 days before the agreed date, a cancellation fee of 50% applies. If you cancel later than 8 days before the agreed date, a cancellation fee of 100% applies.
